Legacy Programs/Partners

AmpliPhi Biosciences’ legacy programs include collaborations for the advancement of adeno-associated viral vector (AAV) technology that is no longer a focus of development at AmpliPhi. These existing collaborations include:

Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics

Licensing of two AAV patents to Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics B.V. (AMT). The non-exclusive license provides AMT with the rights to use AAV1 in the development and commercialization of therapeutic products for treating type I and type V lipoprotein lipase deficiencies. Under the terms of the non-exclusive license, AmpliPhi Biosciences may receive milestone payments based on the progress of the licensed products from clinical trial phases to regulatory approvals and royalties on the sale of any products commercialized using the licensed technology.

Celladon Corporation

Collaboration for the development of AAV-based drugs for the treatment of congestive heart failure. Under license and manufacturing agreements, Celladon Corporation utilizes AAV vector for the development of MYDICAR® – a genetically-targeted enzyme replacement therapy for advanced heart failure. If the program progresses further through clinical studies and through the FDA approval process, AmpliPhi Biosciences could receive significant milestone payments and royalties.

Genzyme Corporation

Sale to Genzyme Corporation of certain assets, including manufacturing technologies and other AAV vector technology. The purchased assets consist primarily of patents, know-how and manufacturing-related equipment.  Genzyme also received a license to use certain technology and materials necessary for manufacturing AAV vectors. Under the collaboration, AmpliPhi Biosciences will receive revenue from Genzyme in the event that Genzyme sublicenses the acquired intellectual property within specified time periods, and will receive royalties in the event of commercial sales of products containing AAV vectors covered by the acquired intellectual property.
